Infertility And Depression: How Your Employer Can Help

This is from a very good article by LINDSAY TIGAR As someone who dealt with infertility personally, Lesesne calls the experience one of the most isolating times of her life. “You feel like a failure for so many reasons but primarily because you can’t do the one thing you are biologically built to do. This can have such a significant impact on you mentally with many feelings of shame, guilt, doubt, and sadness,” she continued. It wasn’t until she looked back on her own IVF treatments that she realized the mental impact. After three rounds of IVF, she had a…

Birth Rates Actually IMPROVE With SET

Transferring one embryo into women during in vitro fertilization (IVF) doesn't lower their chances of giving birth but it does mean fewer women give birth to twins, with all the attendant health risks, a study said. IVF has traditionally involved transferring multiple embryos, which is known to increase by many times a woman's chances of having twins and other multiple births, and raise risks to both mother and babies, including diabetes during pregnancy, premature birth and cerebral palsy. But improved technology has helped increase births if single embryos are used in younger women judged to have a good chance of getting pregnant,…

Infertility Impacts Your Finances — Greatly

Fertility coverage isn’t something employer are required to offer, which makes the high price tags fall on the shoulder of those trying to get pregnant. Estimates place one round of IVF can cost between $20K and $28. And most couples require two or more to find success. Blaming Women for Infertility in the 1940 Sill Seen Today

In the early days of fertility treatments, some doctors theorized that women’s unconscious hatred of their husbands kept them from conceiving. By: Livia Gershon Infertility is notorious for its impact on mental health, with many people who are unable to conceive reporting shame, anxiety, and depression. Today, most medical providers assure patients that they’re not to blame for difficulty getting pregnant. Suing Fertility Clinic for Having a Child of a Different Race via IVF

After giving birth to a baby that is of a different race, a British couple is claiming that they were given the wrong embryo during IVF treatments at a Connecticut fertility clinic. The anonymous parents are now suing the facility along with Dr. Melvin Thornton for the mishap. “Their second child appeared to have a much darker skin pigmentation [than] either the father, the genetic mother or their first child which was extremely unexpected and perplexing as the children were supposed to have the same genetic makeup,” the lawsuit reads, according to the Connecticut Post.
