Many couples are putting off their dreams of having children through Ukrainian surrogacy and IVF because of the Covid pandemic. Concerns about closing borders, long quarantines, exit scares and interruptions to the surrogacy processes have caused many intended parents to put their Ukrainian surrogacy journeys on hold.

Covid is not affecting Ukrainian surrogacy. The Corona Virus is not affecting Ukrainian surrogacy. Now is a great time to start.

Pausing in vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatment during lockdown will have a significant impact on women's ability to give birth, given that they were two months older when their treatment resumed.

The COVID-19 lockdown will likely lead to a drop of 0.5% in the live birth rate following IVF treatment. In the US, this is equivalent to 734 fewer live births per year.

"Surrogacy is not something you go into IVF thinking, 'This is what I'm going to be doing,' " Michelle Buteau says of her ultimately "beautiful" choice

Michelle Buteau is "forever thankful" for her surrogate for helping bring her now-20-month-old twins Hazel and Otis into the world, but it took her a little while to come around to the idea that her road to motherhood might look different than she'd initially envisioned.

Louise Brown - the world's first IVF girl

Yeah, Science! World's First IVF Baby Wishes World's Second IVF Baby a Happy 40th Birthday

Louise Brown, the world's first IVF girl, wished the first IVF boy, Alastair MacDonald, on his 40th birthday on Twitter.

How many unique things do only you and your friends have in common? For this woman and her friend, the common factor is that they are the both first IVF (In-vitro fertilization) or 'Test-tube' babies of their respective genders.

And they're both the same age!

Louise Brown, who is a 40-year-old Englishwoman, is known for being the world's first IVF baby. Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, she wished the world's second IVF baby, and the first baby of the male gender, Alastair MacDonald a happy birthday.

In the tweet, she wrote, "Happy 40th Birthday to my good friend Alastair MacDonald. The first IVF boy and the world’s second IVF baby. Have a great time!"

Louise isn't the only one who wished him, though. Both Louise and Alastair were conceived at UK's Bourn Hall Fertility Clinic.

Louise is about six months older than Alastair, and on her 40th birthday, she had a celebration to mark the milestone for IVF.

‘I am just an ordinary person and that is the point really, IVF is for everyone and the fact I am just a regular person helped it develop into what it is today,’ she had said.

Louise has been an active campaigner for IVF access for all.

IVF is expensive

Infertility — Breaking down the cost and process of infertility treatments

INFERTILITY - When it comes to figuring out what infertility treatment is right for you, there are many options to research.

In our FOX43 Focal Point: Infertility, we’re breaking down the options and financial responsibility of some of the treatments that are available.

Doctor Issac Sasson is highly trained in reproductive medicine and invited FOX43 to see something very few ever get to: an up-close view of the IVF process at the Shady Grove Fertility Embryology Laboratory in Chesterbrook, Chester County.

Sasson says the IVF laboratory is about generating a controlled environment. "We are bringing sperm and egg together and sometimes injecting the sperm directly into the egg."

IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) is the most successful treatment you can do using your own eggs and sperm, or donor sperm. It costs roughly $13,000. It's one of the most expensive treatments and also most complicated.

IVF starts with stimulating the ovaries with pills and injectables for about 14 days. The process should produce more eggs.

The next step includes a trigger shot that will set ovulation in motion. This is followed by the egg retrieval and fertilization of the egg and sperm in a lab.

This process will create an embryo. The embryo’s develop at the Shady Grove lab for 5 full days in an incubator.

The incubator has four sections that are all under the watch of a camera for five days. Each normal embryo has a 65% chance of delivering.

Each surviving embryo is tested before being inseminated back into the woman.

The IVF process has a nearly 40% chance of success in women under 35. It’s the best chance of success in any current method.
