PGD and PGS Testing: How to Maximize Your Chances of Successful Pregnancy in Ukrainian Surrogacy
One of the greatest fears of intended parents is that embryos fail and your surrogate will not get pregnant.
In this series of pieces, we want to give tips as to how to minimize your chances of failed embryos.
PGD and PGS testing. Preimplantation genetic testing can show if there are abnormalities in the embryos (PGS) or if there are specific genetic diseases in the embryos (PGD).
Discuss with your agency doctors if this is something you should consider. Is there a good reason to do it, or are they just adding to the cost? Understand the difference between PGS and PGD so you only need to spend what is really needed.
At Delivering Dreams we will not implant any embryo that has abnormalities identified through PGD/PGS.
What happens if you do not have any viable embryos? This is a financial question too. Will you be reimbursed if you can’t go forward? Find out before signing your contract and how much.
At Delivering Dreams, to help deal with this unknown, we do this testing as the first stage of our services agreement, so if there are not viable embryos, the service agreement can be terminated if you wish without having paid the first significant payment for the surrogacy process. We think this is most fair, since with this testing you may find that you cannot go ahead.
Now I don’t want to be all doom and gloom. Working with doctors in advance of testing and having them review all your testing we can give advice to optimize sperm and egg quality. We do all this before even signing the agreement. You should not be asked to pay for doctors to review your case history and testing.
Don’t be afraid to ask your agency questions. This is a very serious and complicated and life changing you should always feel that they are responsive and honest in their answers. If they are not this way before you sign a contract, it is not a good sign of how they might be afterwards.
