The Hidden Costs of Surrogacy in Ukraine

The Cost of Complications (C-Sections and Bed Rest) The Cost of Complications (C-Sections and Bed Rest)

When you first start researching surrogacy in Ukraine, the numbers can look incredibly appealing. You might see agencies advertising "All-Inclusive" packages for as low as $40,000 or $50,000. For many intended parents, especially those who have already spent a fortune on IVF treatments at home, this looks like the miracle solution they’ve been waiting for.

But there is a significant difference between the sticker price (what you sign up for) and the final price (what you actually pay).

At Delivering Dreams, we believe transparency is the foundation of trust. Today, we are pulling back the curtain on the industry’s "low base price" illusion to help you avoid the financial traps that catch so many families off guard.

The "A La Carte" Illusion

Many agencies operate like budget airlines. The ticket price looks incredibly low, but once you arrive at the airport, you are charged for your carry-on, your seat selection, and even a bottle of water.

In surrogacy, this "à la carte" model is dangerous because the stakes are not a $50 suitcase fee - they are medical bills that can run into the tens of thousands of dollars. A low entry price often means the agency has stripped away essential protections, leaving you financially exposed to every possible complication.

Here are the top 5 hidden costs that frequently turn a "cheap" program into a financial burden.

1. The Cost of Complications (C-Sections and Bed Rest)

In a standard pregnancy, medical twists and turns are common. However, in many "low-cost" surrogacy contracts, these are billed as extra expenses.

  • C-Sections: Many agencies charge an additional fee if your surrogate requires a Cesarean section. This is often framed as a "medical extra," costing you thousands more on the day of birth.

  • Bed Rest & Hospitalization: If your surrogate needs to be hospitalized during pregnancy to protect the baby, who pays for her stay, her medication, and her lost wages? In many programs, you do.

2. The "NICU" Nightmare

This is the single biggest fear for intended parents. If your baby is born prematurely and requires care in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), the costs can be staggering. Many standard contracts in Ukraine cover only the first 3-5 days of a healthy baby's hospital stay. If your child needs weeks of specialized care, you could be receiving daily invoices that were never mentioned in your initial budget planning.

3. "Pay-Per-Try" Embryo Transfers

Does the package include unlimited transfers? Often, the answer is no. Many base packages include only one embryo transfer. If that first attempt doesn't result in a pregnancy, you are immediately hit with fees for:

  • Preparation of the surrogate for a new cycle.

  • The transfer procedure itself.

  • Additional medication. Repeat this two or three times, and your "low cost" program has suddenly increased by $10,000 or more.

4. Medication and "Extra" Tests

Read the fine print carefully. Does the "All-Inclusive" price cover the surrogate’s medication throughout the entire pregnancy? Or does it stop at week 12? Furthermore, crucial screenings like NIPT (Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing) are often excluded, meaning you have to pay out-of-pocket for peace of mind regarding genetic health.

5. Bureaucracy and Logistics

The logistical side of surrogacy involves dozens of small but cumulative costs. Does your agency charge for:

  • Notarizing and translating documents for the exit process?

  • Coordinating medical care if you stay longer than 5 days?

  • Transportation to and from the hospital? These "admin fees" can slowly drain your budget during the most stressful part of your journey—bringing your baby home.

Your Financial Safety Net: The Delivering Dreams Difference

At Delivering Dreams, we know that you cannot put a price on peace of mind. You shouldn't have to worry about receiving a surprise invoice while you are waiting for your baby to be born.

That is why we developed Dream Lock Pricing™.

What is Dream Lock Pricing™?

Dream Lock Pricing™ is our guarantee to you. It means that the cost of your surrogate’s compensation and all medical care for a healthy pregnancy are fixed. If these costs increase during your journey, we pay the difference, not you.

We have structured our programs to absorb the risks so you don't have to.

How We Protect Your Budget

  • Caps on Complications: With our optional Full Protection Coverage™ (available in All-Inclusive programs), you are protected against expenses up to $25,000 for complications, including C-sections, ectopic pregnancies, and NICU care.

  • Unlimited Options: Our Unlimited Program truly lives up to its name. It includes unlimited embryo transfers from one IVF cycle until you have a baby. It also covers extended NICU stays and provides a comprehensive logistics package (drivers, trains, and even a nanny at the hospital).

  • Ethical Payments: With our Pregnancy Process Protection™, if a pregnancy is lost, you do not start payments from scratch. You only pay 30% of the scheduled fees for the next attempt.

Why This Matters

We are a US-based agency. We understand that American and European parents value certainty. By removing the financial "what ifs," we allow you to focus on what truly matters: the emotional journey of becoming a parent.

Don't get trapped by a low sticker price that hides a mountain of future bills. Choose the path of certainty.

Common Questions About Surrogacy Costs (FAQ)

1. What happens if my surrogate needs a C-section?
In many agencies, this is an extra cost. At Delivering Dreams, if you have Full Protection Coverage™ (which can be added to our programs), the cost of a C-section is fully covered within the policy limits, protecting you from sudden surgical fees.
2. Is NICU care included in your programs?
Standard hospital care (3-5 days) is included in all programs. For extended NICU care, our Unlimited Program covers these costs fully. In other All-Inclusive programs, Full Protection Coverage™ protects you against NICU expenses up to $25,000.
3. Do I have to pay extra if the first embryo transfer fails?
It depends on your program. In our Standard program, additional transfers incur a fee. However, our Unlimited Program includes unlimited transfers until a live birth is achieved. Our Success Program uses a unique shared-risk model: you pay a smaller upfront fee for extra transfers, and the remaining balance is due only if the transfer is successful (heartbeat confirmed).
4. Why are some agencies so much cheaper initially?
Agencies with very low base prices often exclude essential medical costs (like medication throughout pregnancy), legal fees, and complication risks. They shift the financial risk to you. We prefer a transparent model where Dream Lock Pricing™ secures your budget against the unexpected.
